I'm fundraising to make an everlasting change to the world’s oceans

Will you join me in the fight for our oceans?

Now has never been a more urgent time to fight for our environment, especially the oceans. Plastic pollution is at an all time high and won’t get better unless we take action. That is why I am taking action and fundraising for PADI AWARE by completing a 15 KM swim across the remaining 40 days, which is how long we have to double the grantees that will receive crucial funding for initiatives across the world that will save our oceans, from coral restoration in Thailand to shark protection in Mexico. I will be documenting my progress, milestones and sharing my experience on this journey with you.

Every donation, like or share on your social feeds is a voice screaming for change. Will you join the fight with me?

Help PADI AWARE help ocean heroes.

From 1st November 2024 to 9th Feb 2025, PADI Foundation has 100 days to raise $100,000 to double the number of grantees that will receive funding for their ocean-saving initiatives. Every donation, big or small, helps us reach our target. Please join me in driving impact where it's needed most.

Total distance - 12.954 KM

Thursday 6th Feb
With only one week to go, my distance as of Sunday 2nd February is 12.954 KM.

Even though I wasn’t able to cover as much distance as I hoped for, it gave me the opportunity to look back over the whole journey and reflect on progress made both on my general fitness and starting the new year off on a positive note by helping to make a difference in the world. From wanting to do something to actively signing up for the race to 100 in the last 40 days, this final week is where it really does count!

Total distance - 10.644 KM

Tuesday 28th Jan
With less than two weeks remaining on my race to 100 fundraiser, the total distance covered is 10.644 out of 15 KM.

With the deadline fast approaching, my mind has been focused more than ever on how many laps I’ve been able to clock up during each swimming session. However, for most of the week, that was my only focus and it was only when I got home to log my distance that I remember why I was fundraising to begin with. In these last few weeks, I’ll be focusing on reaching that 15 KM but also balancing that out with thoughts of a healthier future for our oceans and its habitants.

Total distance - 6.411 KM

Wednesday 22nd Jan
Hitting the half way mark brings my total distance to 6.411 KM out of 15 KM.

As well as making progress in reaching my fundraising distance, I’ve seen the same for how I approach each pool session. Over time, I’ve slowly increased my recovery time after each length and worked out which strokes work best for me. Every session is different and brings its own challenges, which prepares and gets me eager to take on the next one.

Total distance - 3.3 KM

Sunday 12th Jan
After a delayed start, I’ve completed the first phase of my 15 KM swim, with a total of 3.3 KM completed so far.

Since it’s been years since setting foot in a swimming pool, I was naturally uncertain about my stamina levels and if I would hit my target for the week. However, remembering the long term purpose of my goal and taking each lap at a time made me look forward to each session more. Getting the balance of enjoyment with progress is one of the most vital elements of fundraising for me!
