Saving Freshwater Quarries ♻️

Friends and everyone who cares about our freshwater bodies! πŸ’§πŸ’™

My name is Natalya, and I’m a PADI Instructor from RuDIVE diving center in Russia. Together with my team, I work on cleaning and preserving freshwater environments β€” quarries, rivers, and lakes. 🐟🌿 We regularly carry out environmental actions in support of the international PADI AWARE foundation, raising awareness about pollution and showing that everyone can make a real difference.

Throughout our work, we have conducted more than 14 clean-up events and removed over 550 kg of trash from underwater. ♻️ Our dives take place in challenging conditions: murky water, thick layers of silt, very low visibility, and in winter the temperature can drop to 0Β°C. β„οΈπŸ€Ώ Despite this, we keep going because we see real results and understand how important it is to protect aquatic ecosystems. 🌍✨

We now need your support to continue our mission. πŸ™Œ We are organizing a fundraiser in support of PADI AWARE, so we can carry out more environmental clean-ups, promote ecological awareness, and help preserve freshwater ecosystems that suffer from pollution every day. πŸ’š

Freshwater ecosystems are among the most vulnerable on our planet πŸŒπŸ’§. Fish, amphibians, and other inhabitants of rivers, lakes, and quarries 🐟🐸 face serious threats from pollution ♻️, habitat loss 🌿, and poaching 🚫.

Funds raised for freshwater animal protection programs will be used to:

β€’ restore and clean water bodies πŸ’¦

β€’ create shelters for rare species 🏠🐠

β€’ carry out rescue operations in drying or polluted areas πŸ›Ÿ

β€’ support educational and anti-poaching campaigns πŸ“šβŒ

Together, we can protect these fragile ecosystems and keep our waters alive! πŸ’šπŸŒŠ

If our mission resonates with you, please support us with a donation or help by sharing this information β€” even the smallest contribution helps keep our waters clean and alive. πŸ’¦πŸ

Thank you to everyone who stands with us! πŸ’™πŸ™

Waste disposal

Thursday 18th Dec
We take small waste to special recycling facilities ourselves. From it, various souvenirs and other useful items are made.
However, disposing of large bulky waste requires funds. Support us so we can continue making the world cleaner and protect fresh water, keeping our rivers, lakes, and reservoirs free from pollution!

🌊 Summer β€œCatch” from Freshwater Bodies

Thursday 18th Dec
This season, we managed to pull out of the water:
β€’Β cans and glass
β€’Β paper and clothing
β€’Β a piece of linoleum
β€’Β a gasoline canister
β€’Β a fishing net
‒ … and much more!
Each β€œcatch” is a reminder of how important it is to protect our freshwater bodies and how quickly they can become polluted πŸ’™

The rescue of a sterlet πŸ†˜πŸŸ

Thursday 18th Dec

During our underwater cleanup πŸŒŠβ›‘, we came across a sterlet 🐟 tangled in fishing line.Β

We carefully freed it, and the line was completely removed from the water.Β

Moments like this remind us how important it is to keep our waters clean πŸ’š.

Inhabitants of a freshwater quarry🌱

Thursday 18th Dec

Quarries are home to fish 🐟

You can find crucian carp, roach, perch, pike, and tench here.

Even these waters can thrive if we keep them clean πŸ’š

Our first cleanup

Thursday 18th Dec

Our first cleanup event took place on May 31, 2025.

Around 30 people took part, and we collected about 100 kg of trash from the bottom.

Debris cleanup location πŸ’™

Thursday 18th Dec

Our localΒ Spas-Kamenka quarry, which we are cleaning up from litter.

The pollution comes from tourists and nearby construction activities.

We clean it up to protect nature and show that change is possible.
